Overview

Propeller Geek HatThis course is designed for current users of Microsoft Office and are an Excel casual user. We will learn important shortcuts and tips and tricks in navigating and selecting data in Excel. We’ll customize Excel through our Quick Access Toolbar and important options. The course teaches formatting, using Autofill, and how to create formulas and functions the right way the first time. Finally, we will filter and sort our information, as we use Excel as a data table. Here’s a couple of videos on some of your learning.

Prerequisite: Current Microsoft Office user or casual user of Excel. Comfortable with the Windows Operating system and other Microsoft Office applications.

Learning Objectives

After completing this program, participants will be able to:

  • Increase productivity through shortcuts and the Quick Access Toolbar,
  • Create attractive worksheets with formatting,
  • Use AutoFill to save time and input for text, numbers, dates, and formulas/functions,
  • Develop formulas and functions in Excel,
  • Understand syntax of Excel’s formulas and functions,
  • Filter and sort Excel data tables easily.

  • Lesson 4: Formulas and Functions
    • Creating a difference formula,
    • SUM,
    • AVERAGE,
    • COUNT,
    • COUNTA,
    • TODAY.
  • Lesson 5: Filters and Sorting in a data table
    • Table/Database rules and guidelines,
    • Filtering a table/database for dates, text, and numbers,
    • Sorting a table/database using one and multiple criteria with custom sorts.
